Samsung To Reveal Galaxy Tab 2 AT MWC
Samsung’s next generation Galaxy Tab and S2 smartphone will be revealed at Mobile World Congress, it seems
Samsung is to demonstrate the next version of its Galaxy Tablet next month at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, according to a leaked PR schedule.
Samsung will announce a follow-up to its Samsung Galaxy Tab at MWC on Sunday 13 February, at 7.30pm at night, it seems, and has inadvertently published details of all its upcoming models, including the Galaxy S2 smartphone and Galaxy Tab 2, on the Samsung Hub website.
Samsung quickly realised its mistake and removed the information, but not before screenshots were taken and psted on the India-based AndroidOS,in blog. The schedule clearly indicates that the Galaxy Tab 2 and Galaxy S2 demonstration will take at 7.30pm on 13 February.
There is speculation that Samsung will opt to include Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) for its next generation tablet. And it is believed that the South Korean electronics giant is working on a bigger 10 inch alternative for those wanting more screenspace, compared to the originals 7-inch display.
Samsung has already used the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in early January to reveal that it was planning on announcing several dual-core tablets and smartphones at Mobile World Congress.
At CES it revealed that it planned to sell 4G devices through all major US carriers, as well as produce a number of phones running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7. And also at CES Samsung introduced a Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab, an Android-running “smart player” called the Galaxy Player and the Infuse 4G smartphone
Samsung is currently well placed in the smartphone market, after recording more than 10 million sales of its Galaxy S smartphones at the end of 2010.
The Galaxy Tab recorded solid sales of 1 million units in early December since its UK launch back in early November, but its sales still trail behind the Apple iPad. And the Galaxy Tab is also facing a raft of competition from the likes of Motorola Xoom, RIM BlackBerry Playbook, Dell Streak, HP WebOS tablet, and others including Sony.
The stakes are high to get it right, as demand for tablets shows no sign of slowing. In December a survey from Harris Interactive found that nearly a quarter of US adults planned on owning a tablet in three years time.
