IPv6 deployment is moving too slowly to address IPv4 end-of-life issues properly. At the same time, even with the slow rate of adoption, IPv6 vulnerabilities are popping up since we are deploying IPv6-optimized IA/Security tools too slowly. In the Network World article oecommerce Chief Faces 5 Internet Emergencies? the former chairman of the US NTIA declares ?Promoting IPv6? as an oeinternet Emergency? The problem that we are facing, making promotion of IPv6 an oeinternet Emergency? , is that it will actually take years to properly ?operationalize? secure IPv6 capabilities in most carrier?s networks and enterprise infrastructure - - and we?re only 3-5 years from needing it to be operational. Taking too long to activate IPv6 as IPv4 resources dwindle could leave us with a gap in services that will affect Internet availability. That makes IPv6 deployment a business continuity issue for companies that use networked computers for operations, and ecommerce, email, VOIP, etc?

We are running out of IPv4 addresses very quickly and everybody needs to start migrate to IPv6 as soon as possible. The site www.ipv4depletion.com have some more information and predicts the date when we will run out of addresses
